When she was in her 20s, Ellen was in a relationship with a woman named Kat Perkoff, who happened to own a lesbian bar back in Ellen’s hometown of New Orleans where Ellen first started her career in stand-up comedy. Sadly, Ellen and Kat broke it off after Ellen found out that Kat cheated on her with someone else. Ellen was in the process of moving out of their shared apartment with Kat when she ended up dying in a horrible car crash and Ellen unknowingly drove by the scene right after it had happened, never knowing at that time that her newly ex-girlfriend was the actual victim.
