Do Not Discount The Possibility Of Barter

This actually surprises many tourists. Cubans do not have access to a lot of non-Cuban items. Anything foreign is a welcome treat. Sometimes, when buying stuff at a souvenir shop or stall, you may be asked if you want to trade instead of paying cash. Economically, they can get more by selling your traded items. Or they may fancy it for themselves. These include shirts, trousers, snacks, etc. Anything foreign has value. It’s like trading in your second hand stuff for new souvenirs. It’s all up to you really.
