Cuba, just like many developing nations, may have unsafe tap water. Typhoid and cholera are a concern, but other microbes may be present in the tap water which can cause stomach discomfort for those not used to it. Even some resorts use purified water for ice. There are many places to buy sealed bottled water, and it is not expensive. Just don’t buy them from a street vendor, it most likely is tap water in plastic bottles that have been resealed. There are supermarkets, convenience stores, and kiosks that sell authentic mineral, purified, or distilled water. So don’t risk ruining your vacation. Better safe than sorry.
