Don’t Underestimate Criminality

While travelling to Cuba is deemed safe for foreign tourists, there are always criminal elements anywhere. This should always be a rule of thumb any place you visit, always keep your valuables safe. Some tourists don’t realize this until it is too late. Many incidents of bags being swiped when tourists were not looking has been recorded. All it takes is a few seconds of you not looking at your stuff, and then it’s gone. Even though most Cubans are hospitable, friendly, and helpful, there are those who will “help” themselves to your valuables if you don’t watch over them. So be aware of your surroundings. Worse than having your stuff swiped under your nose is getting mugged.
