Don’t Rely On ATMs And Credit Cards

Make sure you bring enough euros or US dollars for your entire trip to Iraq because you cannot rely on ATMs and credit cards. You can easily exchange your money with Iraqi dinar in all the main cities, and you can get the best rates at bazaars or stalls in the middle of the street. You can also exchange money when you arrive at the airport or at your hotel, but this is not a big concern since most hotels and souvenir shops will accept payment in euros or US dollars. While bigger hotels accept card payments, most establishments, including expensive restaurants, will not accept credit cards, so always bring cash with you. Similarly, there are only a few ATMs around Baghdad and other cities that accept international bank cards, so it’s best to bring sufficient funds.
