Don’t Apply For An Individual Tourist Visa

Visa requirements for travelers visiting Iraq are not only complicated but are also subject to change at short notice. You can get a visitor visa if you have relatives in Iraq, a pilgrimage visa if you’re participating in an organized religious trip, a business visa if you’re attending conferences or business meetings, or a press visa if you’re a journalist. If your purpose of travel falls under none of these, you’ll need to get a tourist visa which is the most difficult one to acquire. First, you can’t apply for a tourist visa by yourself. You need to apply for a group tourist visa which requires at least five people applying together. Also, all five people should apply to the same embassy even if you are coming from different countries. This makes your application more problematic if you planned the trip to Iraq to meet up with friends residing in other countries. Moreover, don’t be surprised if you’re refused entry to Iraq if you have an Israeli stamp on your passport or any proof of travel to Israel, including luggage tags and security check stickers issued at Israel’s airport.
