Don’t Get Confused With Iraqi Workdays And Business Hours

Iraq does not have the usual 9 to 5 business hours that are typically considered as standard business hours in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Instead, Iraqi working hours in the private sector are from 8AM to 1PM and 2PM to 5PM from Sunday to Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays are the employees’ days off although government offices are open from Saturday to Thursday, also from 8AM to 2PM. Like government offices, banks are open from Saturday to Thursday but only from 8AM to 12:30PM, and just till noon on Saturdays. Shop and malls, however, are open from 9AM to 6PM, but business hours for private and public sectors are greatly reduced on official holidays, particularly during the month of Ramadan.
