In relation to the previous, food sharing is the culture in Israel. There is no concept of ordering a main dish for yourself… food is always laid out in abundance for several people to enjoy together. It is an old tradition. Seems awkward if you are travelling alone, but somehow you will make friends easily with others joining you at the table, especially if you are the one paying. While it may seem strange for people like us, eating in Israel is a very social experience. Locals will not hesitate to befriend tourists particularly if they are alone. If for some reason you don’t want to be social and be left alone, order room service in your hotel. Why bother to go out?
