Never Underestimate Taxi Drivers

Israel is just like other places around that tend to overcharge tourists for taxi fares. It’s a global phenomenon and tourists should get used to this. However, it does not mean you have to let the taxi drivers take advantage of you. By law, they have to use the meter, and cannot ask for a contract without using the meter. If they tell you the meter is broken, politely excuse yourself and look for another cab. Parked cabs waiting are normally the scammers. Better hail a cab that is moving. Then there is a better option, use an app to get a cab (GETT is the app in Israel) as they will not scam you since you know their details. Of course, you can always take the bus like the locals.
