Whether you are trying to impress a Brit or just want to feel like a local, your mimicking of a British accent is not going to be appreciated. Some locals will think you are mocking them. Your accent will never be that good anyway. Besides, there are several different types of accents, depending where in the UK you happen to be. When you happen to make a good friend with a local, you may ask them to help you perfect the accent. But don’t mimic the accent with a stranger or someone you just met. Some people are sensitive and will take offense.
