You may experience symptoms of dizziness from dehydration or hyperthermia (abnormally high body temperature) if you don’t drink enough fluids or if you’re active in hot weather. Other symptoms of dehydration associated with dizziness include fatigue, tiredness, weakness, and confusion. To treat dehydration, drink plenty of fluids like water, fruit juice, or an electrolyte-rich beverage such as a sports drink or coconut water. To treat severe dehydration, you may require hospitalization for intravenous (IV) fluids.
You may also experience dizziness, weakness, or loss of consciousness when you first try to move or stand after a prolonged bed rest. Postural hypotension is common among bedridden patients when they first move from a supine position to a standing position. When blood rushes downward to their limbs, it causes a rapid drop in blood pressure and may result in dizziness.
Allergies may cause wheezing and low blood pressure which can result in dizziness. Internal bleeding (internal hemorrhage) can lead to significant blood loss and cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting.
