Lauren Bacall had always loved the theatre, so it felt natural when she began acting herself. But it was actually modelling that launched her career in films. But what led to a long and illustrious career started from starring in the movie To Have and Have Not across the man who would eventually become her husband, none other than Humphrey Bogart, back in 1944. Bogart was married at the time and Bacall was 25 years his junior, however the two couldn’t deny their attraction to each other and ended up together. Despite being devastated by Bogarts’ death in 1957, Bacall would go on to act across many other noteworthy actors like Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis and John Wayne. Aside from winning multiple Academy Awards, Golden Globes and Critic’s Choice Awards, she also earned the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
