American meteorologist Maria Molina was born in Nicaragua but grew up in South Florida, where she experienced Category 5 Hurricane Andrew which devastated her hometown when she was just 5 years old. This sparked her interest to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from Florida State University. A Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society, Maria started her career as a bilingual meteorologist for AccuWeather in State College, Pennsylvania before joining Fox News Channel where she provided the weather updates while appearing in other FOX shows. Furthering her education, she earned her master’s in Climate and Society from Columbia University in New York while also earning her PhD from Central Michigan University and is now an Advanced Study Program postdoctoral fellow at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
