Araksya Karapetyan

Born in Leninakan (Gyumri), Armenia in 1982, Araksya Karapetyan emigrated to the U.S. with her family in 1990 before the fall of the Soviet Union. However, her hometown was previously devastated by the 1988 Armenian earthquake, an experience she has never forgotten. She grew up in Palos Verdes, California, then earned a degree in international relations and broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University. She then began her television career by starting out as an intern at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, worked as a host and reporter for KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls and KOIN-TV in Portland, before finally making her way as the anchor for KTTV – FOX 11’s Good Day LA in 2012.
