Penelope Cruz always wanted to be a well-known actress, getting her chance after starring in a number of films including this one called Broken Embraces by Pedro Almodovar. This director was known for his obscure movies and the characters in the story, just like the one Cruz played in this one. Her character, Luna, was an aspiring actress who ended up in a relationship with her incredibly rich employer who wanted to control her in every way. Cruz shared that the movie was quite strange, “The first few days it was a little bit confusing to know who was real and who was an actor. I would step back and take pictures of the two sets. It was so huge and alive, such a beautiful chaos, because there is a lot of chaos in a movie set.”
