The Infamous Mike Tyson Face Tattoo of 2003

History Daily

The name Mike Tyson is synonymous with boxing, ear biting and well, face tattoos. Everyone believed that his sporting career was over after he bit off Evander Holyfield’s ear in a match that no one can seem to forget. But over 10 years later in the early 2000s, Tyson managed to turn things around for himself all because he decided to tattoo his face. Originally, Tyson asked his artist to cover his entire face because he “hated himself and wanted to destroy his image completely,” but the artist refused and convinced the boxing champ to put a Maori tribal design on the side instead. Tyson shared, “It looks awesome. That tattoo is me. Sometimes I see people with tattoos on their face and I’m like: ‘Woah, this guy is crazy!’ I forget that I’ve got one on my face.” These days, he’s happily living off his California marijuana farm earnings which sells over $500,000 of weed every month.
