See How Jim Carrey Transformed Into His Character of the ‘Grinch’

Jim Carrey took on role of the infamous Grinch in the filming of Ron Howard’s version of Christmas favorite The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Apparently, the likened it to being in a torture device, even leading the movie’s head makeup artist reportedly into therapy! If you’ve seen the movie, then you know exactly what Carrey looks like in costume, and it wasn’t just the full bodied fur costume he had to wear, but the elongated contacts that made it a serious living hell, and everyone else on set too. Makeup artist Kazuhiro Tsuji shared, “On set, [Carrey] was really mean to everybody and at the beginning of the production they couldn’t finish. After two weeks we only could finish three days’ worth of shooting schedule, because suddenly he would just disappear and when he came back, everything was ripped apart. We couldn’t shoot anything.”
