America’s Favorite Surfer Girl, Cameron Diaz in 1998

History Daily

Cameron Diaz made a name for herself for being refreshingly real and chill. The gorgeous California girl found her way on the big screen across Jim Carrey in The Mask, and afterwards as the lovable character Mary in There’s Something About Mary. While she was tall and statuesque, she was also quirky and awkward, making many love her even more. Although it all seemed quite an easy rise to stardom, Diaz shares that she truly worked her butt off to get to where she is today. She told Nylon magazine, “I’ve been saying that I’m working for the next two years really hard—that was last year, so it’s been one year already. I have another year and I’m gonna work my ass off and then I’m going to take some time for myself. And I feel good about that because I love what I’m doing right now and I feel like things are opening up for me personally within my work, and it’s stuff that I wanna have fun with and explore – just do it and have a good time.”
