8. An Invisible Sign, 2010

There are countless books turned into movies that became epic blockbusters, including Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, The Color Purple, and Gone Girl. Unfortunately, the 2010 drama based on Aimee Bender’s novel An Invisible Sign of My Own is not among them. Even though many critics haven’t been kind to Alba and her performances, often slamming her acting in teeny-bopper films and half-baked thrillers, they were beyond ruthless when they bashed her for being inexpressive and odd in An Invisible Sign. While her co-star, Bailee Madison, was nominated for Best Performance in a Feature Film as the young Mona Gray, Alba received a zero rating from Rotten Tomatoes for her portrayal of the mathematical wiz. The Hollywood Reporter also panned Alba’s failure to demonstrate an affinity for math which her role required. It didn’t help when Alba admitted math was not her strong suit because that was where her ability to act was supposed to come into play.
