We have to hand it to her—the gorgeous Jessica Alba does not give up (or maybe she’s just a sucker for pain). In 2014, she tried her luck again as the beautiful baby mama of a womanizing English professor in yet another rom-com Some Kind of Beautiful. Though Alba got to star alongside Hollywood A-listers Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek, the movie again failed to add a milestone to her filmography because critics called her performance “exasperatingly clichéd.” To be fair to Alba, we all know critics aren’t fans of romantic comedies because they find the genre terribly typical and mainstream. New York Times roasted it as one of the worst films to be labeled a romantic comedy, The Herald described it as contrived and ridiculous, and Variety called it some kind of hideous as well as a perfect storm of romantic-comedy awfulness.
