Captivating Cheryl Tiegs

AOL

Many remember Cheryl as the first American supermodel, setting the standards for other supermodels like Christie Brinkley. Cheryl appeared in lots of magazines, including the popular Sports Illustrated covers. She was a favorite poster-girl, and many teenage boys treasured those posters. Surprisingly, she never considered modelling as a career, she wanted to be a librarian. But, a stint with Seventeen Magazine changed everything. She was immediately launched into super-stardom. Her 1978 “pink bikini” poster became the iconic image of 1970s pop culture. Her first Glamour cover was a shoot in Saint Thomas, virgin Islands, with Ali Macgraw. Tiegs has appeared several times in other magazines like Vogue, Time, Elle, People, and Harper’s Bazaar, to name a few. Tiegs has been married four times, and is active in the philanthropic community, and is an activist for the effects of global warming.
