Susan Sarandon is truly a chameleon, having done tons of different characters perfectly. But whether she’s playing the very sexy girlfriend in Bull Durham, a dying cancer patient in Stepmom, a soap opera actress getting fired on the TV series’ Friends, or a prostitute in Hattie, she did every role well. She said that Hattie was extremely heavy to play though, sharing that much of her inspiration came from being in a haunted house at the time. “I got pneumonia. Also in New Orleans. When we were filming Pretty Baby we worked in an old house on St. Charles Street named the Columns Hotel. They said it was haunted. They were gonna tear it down, but we fixed it up for the movie and they saved it. I loved the wallpaper. Everybody said it was haunted. It had real big bathtubs you could float full-length in.”
