Versatile Singer Linda Ronstadt

Los Angeles Magazine

Very few singers can be appreciated in diverse music genres like Linda Ronstadt. She excelled in rock, folk, country, Latin, light opera, and R & B. According to her, all she ever wanted to do was to sing. “I never knew, one way or the other, if I could sing or not sing or be a professional singer. I just sang…” Well, she earned 10 Grammy Awards, 3 American Music Awards, 2 Academy of country Music Awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award. Truly incredible. Her number one hit You’re No Good proved that she was good, among the very best. She enjoyed collaborating with other artists, such as Neil Young, Frank Zappa, Bette Midler, and Dolly Parton, to name a few. With so many hits under her belt, she eventually retired in 2013, citing Parkinson’s disease (which was later re-evaluated as progressive supranuclear palsy) and said she could no longer sing a note. Still, her achievements can’t be denied, and in many different music genres. Remarkable.
