The Lovable Sally Field

History Daily

Most people remember Sally Field as one of the lovable parents in Mrs. Doubtfire. But before she was everyone’s favorite mom, she was also considered one of those adorable girls that took on roles that were goofy and fun. Her first few movies, Gidget and The Flying Nun, she played characters that were quite wacky, making it seem like she wasn’t one to be taken seriously. Eventually, she was able to hit the big leagues after taking lessons with Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio. After that she landed the lead role in the 1976 movie Sybil, whose character had multiple personality disorder, even winning the Emmy for best actress for that role in 1977.
