Boston Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland was 15 years old when he first met 13-year-old Susannah Higgins while on vacation at Orange Beach. The two would spend the next couple of years of their long-distance relationship on the phone before really coming together in 2009. It wouldn’t take long for the two to get engaged, and they married in November 2011. During the few years they weren’t together, Mitch was drafted by the Texas Rangers and played in the minor league, while Susannah, the Miss Shelby County in 2006, competed in the Miss Alabama pageant and became a second-grade teacher at Oak Mountain Elementary School. The two have been very blessed in the succeeding years, with Mitch becoming a World Series champion in 2018, while also welcoming three children in the family.
