Churros

A popular dessert in Mexico isn’t originally from there but was brought to the land by Spanish colonizers during their stay there. It is a pastry that is shared by both the Portuguese and Spanish, since it was really from their countries that the sinful delicacy originated from. The warm, fluffy, golden-brown goodness of Churros may have come from another country but the locals lovingly call it theirs, and nobody’s complaining.
Churros are made from choux, a dough made from a simple yet magical mix of butter, water, flour and eggs, which is cooked in a pan to incorporate moisture coming from steam, making it soft and fluffy.
The pillow-soft dough is then fried in deep oil and then coated with a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon, giving it a sweet and fragrant dimension that is heaven to the senses. Various dips are available for it too, that’s if you aren’t satisfied with the simpler version. Chocolate or Dulce de Leche, which loosely translates to “sugar of milk,” are favorite accompaniments to the delicious and filling pastry.
