Café de Olla

Mexico’s version of brewed coffee is, in our opinion, way better than what is served in our diners here in the US. Café de Olla, which loosely translates to “Coffee in a pot,” gets its name from the word “olla” the clay pot that is traditionally used to brew it.
The concoction is a mix of ground coffee, unrefined cane sugar (which gives it a hint of molasses flavor) and cinnamon, all of which give the coffee it its distinct taste, which, we find, is not difficult to fall in love with.
