Mexico can get hot and humid sometimes, but thanks to this next food item, locals can beat the heat by getting themselves a bowl of “Raspados,” which is a Mexican version or our favorite snow cones.

“Raspados,” which mean “shaven” or “scraped,” are refreshing treats made out of ice that one can usually find being sold on the streets of Mexico, most-commonly outside churches during Sundays. It is not unusual to find people gathered around a stall after mass, with children probably getting it as a reward for behaving themselves inside during service.

Toppings for the wonderful dessert can be a mix of Mexico’s tasty and exotic fruits, or the stronger “rompepe,” which are flavored syrups akin to our eggnog.
