In time, Swango left OSU and went back home. He was able to get away scot-free. Surprisingly, a Quincy hospital accepted his application and he worked as emergency medical technician at Adams County Ambulance Corps by July of 1984. He had been fired previously from another ambulance service because he was caught allowing a heart patient to drive the vehicle. Nonetheless, this marred record seemed unimportant to them. One could only assume that they must have been short-staffed back then.
