Nicknamed Superman, he is one of the most influential businessmen in Asia. He retired as chairman of CK Hutchison Holdings, and CK Assets Holdings in 2018, but remains Senior Advisor. His son Victor now heads the conglomerate. It employs more than 320,000 employees in 50 countries. Upon his retirement, Li joked that he has been working too long, and wanted to rest. At the age of 21 in 1950, Li started Cheung Kong plastics, named after the Yangtze River. It took about $6,500 of his savings and loans from relatives. His foundation has donated more than $3.3 billion, of which 80% has gone to Greater China. He is 91 years old, but still going strong.
