Rob is the eldest son of Sam Walton, and brother to Jim, Alice, and John (who passed away June 27, 2005). Rob ran Walmart for nearly 25 years, he took over as chairman when his father passed away in 1992. He retired as chairman in 2015 and was replaced by his son-in-law, Greg Penner. He still sits on the board though. Rob also has a 25.5% stake in the largest bank in Arkansas, Arvest Bank, where his brother Jim is the largest shareholder with 44%. It is said that the Walmart fortune grows by $4 million every hour for the past year. Rob has earned over $7 billion from stock sales and dividends since 1992. He joined Walmart in 1978, and was appointed vice-chairman in 1982.
