He co-founded the financial information and media company Bloomberg LP in 1981. He put in the seed fund for the company and currently owns 88% of the business. Bloomberg got his start in Wall Street in 1966 with an entry-level job at investment bank, Salomon brothers. He worked his way up to general partner, but got fired 15 years later. He is an active philanthropist, and has donated over $5 billion to climate change, gun control, and other worthy causes. He was the mayor of New York City for 12 years. He plans to spend at least $500 million to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.
