Amsterdam is considered a very safe place to visit. But all places have their criminals. Thieves, pickpockets, muggers, and worse, are around, so be cautious and alert. Don’t venture into isolated or dimly lit places, especially at night. Protect your belongings always, and try not to wander off stoned or intoxicated.
