A coffeeshop is really a marijuana shop, it’s just called a coffeeshop by the locals (take note coffeeshop not coffee shop). It is legal to purchase cannabis for personal consumption, so you will find lots of these “coffeeshops”. But you can only consume the pot in this place. It is illegal outside the coffeeshops. If you want to have coffee, go to a cafe, which also doubles up as a bar. It would be quite embarrassing to be in the wrong place. So take note of the differences.Try not to bring your parents to a coffeeshop, that is, unless they were former hippies.
