While Amsterdam is a cannabis-friendly city, you can only enjoy it in legal, designated coffeeshops, or in your personal home (if you have one). It is illegal to smoke it outside, as not all residents are smokers, as many tourists think. And they will certainly take offense if you do spark up in public. It will be seen as rude and arrogant.
