Anywhere you travel to, there are quirks in the culture of the locals which you may not be used to. The Netherlands is no exception. Some tourists may find the Dutchies directness when communicating offensive.  But don’t take it personally, it is not meant to insult or offend. It is just their way, so get used to it. It is for you to adjust to their culture as you are the visitor. Don’t expect them to adjust to yours. It may take some time to get used to it, but it really is not a problem.
