Don’t Be Square And Don’t Give In Fours

While the rest of the world, at least those influenced by the west, are wary or superstitious about the number 13, as evidenced in buildings not having a thirteenth floor or watching out for Friday the 13th, the number four is what you shouldn’t associate things with in Korea. Why? Because the Korean for this number sounds like the Korean word for “death.” You’ll notice that buildings in this country won’t have a fourth floor. So if you want to see those cakes you want to give your host when you get invited, don’t make the mistake of giving four of them.
