Never Ask Someone’s Age Or Income

Source: https://www.tripsavvy.com

Asking someone’s age or income is rude not just in Russia. Some of us are not comfortable telling even our own mothers how much we earn. These topics are private in Russia, left for talks between family members or close friends. Maybe a woman can ask another woman how old she is, but a man should never ask a woman her age. If you’re willing to reveal how old you are because you’re proud you look much younger than your age, then, by all means, do so. However, don’t expect your Russian friend to readily share the same. This also goes for salaries. Even if you’re proud of your annual income and you want to reveal how much you have in the bank, don’t expect the Russians to do the same. But it would be better if you don’t discuss salaries at all. You might not just appear arrogant talking about your wealth, but you might also place your Russian friend in an uncomfortable position if he feels obliged to disclose the same.
