Never Forget To Remove Your Shoes Before Entering Someone’s Home

This is a common practice in Russia and many countries in Asia. You’ll notice that Russians rarely take a car and just drive to someone’s place. They walk along dusty streets and take public transportation, collecting dust and dirt on their shoes as they make their way to someone’s home. Since they don’t want to drag in dirt and germs to their host’s living space, they immediately take off their shoes and leave them in the hallway. Also, a typical Russian household has many expensive Persian rugs that are rather difficult to clean. So, if you’re invited as a guest to someone’s house, show some respect and consideration by removing your shoes when you enter the residence. Most likely, your host will offer you a pair of slippers to use.
