If you are one of those tourists who rely heavily on their cell phones while travelling, prepare for disappointment. Even with international roaming service, it takes time to connect to the network. But you can always purchase a local SIM card. This will serve your purpose for local calls. Should you need to make international calls, most likely your hotel will be able to provide you with it. It is not cheap, so limit how long you stay on the phone. It may seem backward and low-tech, but that is the price that goes with the island paradise. Enjoy nature, leave the technology behind.
