Who needs a seatbelt when you have Mom’s arm protecting you from falling hundreds of feet to certain death, right? Here’s a picture of a girl and her mother demonstrating the alarming lack of safety standards back in the 1960s. A scenic chairlift ride might be a nice mother-daughter bonding activity, giving the girls a great view of the town and its surrounding landscape, but we’re sure there are safer ways to travel. Not only is this chairlift missing a proper seatbelt or at least a safety bar, but there’s also no footrest and your feet are left to dangle as if you’re sitting on an inverted roller coaster. The big difference is a roller coaster has safety belts and lap bars while this chairlift has—Mom’s trusty arm.
