By the time she was rescued, the little girl lost all ability to speak. All her mannerisms were that of a dog. Her dog family protected her as she was part of the pack, it took some time for authorities to physically pick her up and have her checked by a doctor. They had to bribe the dogs with treats to separate them from Oxana. Needless to say, Oxana fought tooth and nail literally before being taken to the police station. There is a lack of written documentation about her physical and psychological state when she was found, or about what happened to her parents. It seems the authorities were not keen to record her case, the neglect was just too shameful to acknowledge.
