Oxana’s Human Traits

Unfortunately when Fry visited Oxana, it was at a home for the mentally disabled. When she was given a toy, Oxana thanked Fry, proving that she understood human customs. A surprising trait from a child raised by dogs. Five years after a Discovery Channel program about her, Fry wanted to see if Oxana improved and got better. “I expected someone much less human,” Fry stated. In the film, Oxana looked tomboyish and uncoordinated. Her walk, though upright, was noticeably strange. Her size was very underrated, even just 5 feet tall and skinny, she was powerful and agile. Yet, Fry concluded that Oxana had the mental capacity of a 6-year old, and a low boredom threshold. Also she had learning difficulties, as with other feral children who were brought back to the human world. However, Fry was puzzled by how little attention Oxana paid to her pet mongrel…she would at times push it away gently. It seemed she was more interested in people.
