The film shows the awkward stance apart, and the long silence that ensued. It seemed that Oxana was trying to read the strangers, like a dog would to avoid unpleasant situations. Finally, to everyone’s surprise, she said, “Hello.” Her father replied “I have come.” It seemed so formal, and unnatural. “I thank you that you have come. I wanted you to see me milk the cows,” Oxana nervously replied. It was then that Nina started sobbing, and Oxana went over to her and hugged her. A very touching scene, especially for those who were present during the filming. It is surprising that Oxana seemed to have forgiven her father, and was hoping to live with her father and step-sister. But this was not meant to be.
