Truth be told, not many toddlers would have survived the inhuman abandon and neglect Oxana’s parents did to her. But Oxana adapted, the dogs made her one of the pack, and she survived…like a dog. The dogs took her in like a puppy, and became her surrogate caretakers. It was very difficult, you can imagine, as humans are not meant to be raised by animals. There are only about 100 cases of documented feral children. Oxana learned from the dogs, running on all fours, barking, growling, and doing other behaviors dogs do. She had to survive, and being “like a dog” was her best chance.
