It’s always fun to find out that your favorite celebrity has quite the backstory, and for Ryan Gosling, his history was quite a surprise. Considering that types of roles he has managed to do, and with major conviction at that, his religious background comes as a complete shock to many. He was raised Mormon, and his childhood wasn’t exactly ideal. He explained, “We were brought up pretty religious. My mother admits it: She says, you were raised by a religious zealot. She’s different now, but at the time, it was a part of everything – what they ate, how they thought…” In order to get away, Gosling left his home at 16 and moved to Los Angeles, living in the very colorful Skid Row area. Good thing he managed to make it in the real world and make an incredible career for himself, even if it sounded like it was all a huge escape from his actual life.
