The Johnny Depp the world knows today looks nothing like this fresh-faced, clean shaven hot throb. Although Depp is still thought to be one of the hottest Hollywood actors until today, his fashion sense and overall look is way more punk than pretty boy. His original plans of making it in Hollywood as a rock n’ roll guitarist didn’t pan out, but he did become a very successful actor who would go on to star in hundreds of films. Funny thing is, Depp has never been comfortable being in the spotlight and rumor has it he can’t even watch himself in any of the films that he stars in. And rather than show off his pretty face, Depp also prefers to play majorly off-beat roles that hone in on his acting skills rather than his incredible good looks. According to Edward Scissorhands director, Tim Burton, “Like Edward, Johnny really is perceived as something he is not. Before we met, I’d certainly read about him as the Difficult Heartthrob. But you look at him and you get a feeling. There is a lot of pain and humor and darkness and light. I think for him [the role] is probably very personal. It’s just a very strong internal feeling of loneliness.”
