The Beginning Of It All

Taylor on History

Joyce and her husband moved to Jane Street in 1942 when she was only 24 years old. It was a momentous period for North Americans because of World War II and its aftermath. Joyce had kept a lot of history in her home, which added much to its charm and fascination. People were intrigued by how Joyce managed to keep her house largely as it was, even as the town around her and her property grew and evolved.
The captivating two-story, three-bedroom residence was built of brick and stone, with open fireplaces that were once essential during harsh winters. Even though the period pieces of furniture were most likely going to be sold separately, with some special items to be handed down to Joyce’s family members, the traditional hearths were not going to be replaced with decorative alternatives, such as fake fire logs and electric fireplaces.
