An Average-Looking House Over Seven Decades Old

Newsd

Joyce showed the realtors a photograph of the front of her Jane Street residence. From the looks of the exterior of the house, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it. The house located in Toronto’s West Village area seemed unassuming and appeared much like the other homes that flanked it left and right. The sisters were relieved because there seemed nothing odd about it at all—until Joyce told them that she had been living there since 1942, and in all that time, no work had been done on her house.
The sisters now had an idea why Joyce seemed hesitant. Perhaps the house was indeed in a severe state of disrepair, and hoarding also seemed likely. They did a bit of research and later found out that while Joyce had lived in the area for as long as anyone could remember, none of her neighbors knew much about her home because the occupant kept to herself. Decades without remodeling or renovation, zero knowledge about the house’s interior, and Joyce’s obvious hesitation—as far as the Spizzirris were concerned, everything seemed to point to potential disaster.
