While some people would like to maintain the appearance of the house, and a few might even want to keep it as some sort of historic landmark, realistically speaking, Gladys and Carla needed to see how novelty houses like Joyce’s time capsule would fare in the market compared to what else was out there. Novelty houses rarely appeared on the market, and when they do, they’re often hard to sell, with potential buyers getting discouraged by all the labor and cost needed to renovate or restore customized works.
